On Target helps safety-critical teams perform when the situation no longer matches the plan.

We build the practical habits, communication disciplines and decision-making routines that improve clarity, coordination and adaptation under uncertainty.

On Target translates lessons from fighter aviation, human factors and accident investigation into practical routines for safety-critical teams, so that better performance is not left to personality, experience or luck.

Experienced where the pressure is real

The principles we teach were not developed in boardrooms or classrooms. They were forged in environments where uncertainty is constant, information is incomplete and teams must make consequential decisions together.

As combat fighter aircrew, instructors and operational leaders, we spent our careers preparing for situations where clarity, communication, coordination and sound judgement were essential. Those experiences taught us that reliable performance is rarely about individual talent alone. It comes from teams that build shared understanding, adapt as conditions change and continually learn.

Today, we bring those Human Factors principles to safety-critical organisations; helping teams perform when the situation no longer matches the plan.

That experience informs our work. It does not become the work.

We don't just know performance, we've taught it

Experience alone does not make someone a great teacher.

Throughout our military careers, we were not simply expected to perform. We were selected, trained and assessed to develop others to demanding standards. Designing training, coaching individuals, assessing performance and delivering difficult feedback as part of everyday work.

That taught us how people build confidence, judgement and adaptability under pressure, and how to create learning environments that challenge assumptions while maintaining the psychological safety needed for genuine improvement.

That instructional background shapes every workshop we deliver. We do not simply inspire people or explain concepts. We help teams build practical habits they can transfer back into the workplace.

People learn best by doing

Most leadership and teamwork training happens in a classroom. Real work does not.

Our workshops use immersive simulations to place teams in unfamiliar, dynamic situations where information is incomplete, priorities compete and the answer is not obvious. Participants must create clarity, communicate, coordinate, adapt and make decisions together.

The learning happens through experience, supported by structured debriefing and expert facilitation. Teams examine not only what happened, but why. They then practise again with greater awareness and control.

The goal is not to rehearse one scenario. It is to build capability for the next situation no one predicted.
